Marimekko Opens Stores In Beverly Hills And The Heart Of Silicon Valley
NEW YORK, Nov. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Marimekko announces an expansion to the West Coast with two new company-owned stores. First to open was a Palo Alto location in the Stanford Shopping Center, which opened on October 25th to much anticipation. Marimekko chose Palo Alto because of its connection to design and its sense of community positioned close to Stanford University as well as a number of Silicon Valley high-technology company headquarters.

Continuing Marimekko's expansions to the West Coast, Marimekko will be opening a flagship store in the heart of Beverly Hills, the premier destination for design, interior decoration, fashion and dining. Located on the corner of Canon Drive and Brighton Way, the Beverly Hills flagship will offer a striking and vibrant point of view of pattern and color. The 5,000 square foot experience-rich environment will feature the entire range of Marimekko products, from signature fashions to home furnishings and textiles, as well as a showroom to support further business development of the brand in the area.
"The newest 'Marimekko House' in Beverly Hills celebrates the energy, color and individuality of a city known for fashion, music and entertainment," says Lynn Shanahan, President, Marimekko North America. "Marimekko perfectly complements the California lifestyle. We look forward to becoming an important part of both communities."
The two stores continue Marimekko's robust growth initiatives in North America. In the past year alone, the brand opened a flagship shop in New York City and expanded its Boston presence with a store on the city's famed Newbury Street, as well as collaborated with Canadian-based design store EQ3 for a new shop-in-shop in Toronto in August. In addition to the brick-and-mortar store Marimekko launched an ecommerce last year in an effort to bring the brand to a wider audience. Marimekko has also its own store in Cambridge and a retailer-owned store on Manhattan's Upper East Side as well as shop-in-shops at select Crate & Barrel locations.
Marimekko is known and loved for its bold and brilliant, unconventional patterns. When it launched over 60 years ago, the brand quickly became a phenomenon. Then it grew into an outlook on life: courageous, egalitarian and positive. Its strikingly inventive patterns and clever use of color translate into strong contemporary collections of interior decor, clothing and accessories. Throughout its history, Marimekko has flourished in the boundary between art and design.
The Beverly Hills Flagship opening celebration takes place on November 15.
