According to IDC, there has been an 11.8% drop year-over-year, down to 66.1 million PCs shipped. To compare, Apple sold 74.4 million iPhones during the 2014 holiday quarter.
It will be crucial for Windows 10 to be adopted by smartphone users since 61% of digital media time is spent on smartphones and tablets in the U.S. Current industry leaders such as Google, Amazon, Apple and Facebook are dedicating a considerable amount of their resources towards mobile.
