Martinson is Ready to Knock Out the Competition
Coffees Go Head-to-Head April 19th at Penn Station in the Martinson Taste Championship
NEW YORK, April 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - Martinson Coffee is setting out to prove its reputation as coffee's "Taste Champion" in the city that originated the real "Cup of Joe" when Joe Martinson first began selling his great-tasting coffee around the shipyards.
On Friday, April 19th, Martinson coffee will take on the competition at the Martinson Taste Champion event in the concourse of Penn Station, the hub of New York City's commuter traffic. From 7 am - 7 pm, commuters will be treated to free samples of the new Martinson coffees, featuring the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal, and photos with coffee's best boxers, as contenders battle in the ring for coffee supremacy and bragging rights as Coffee Champion.
"New York City is the logical place for an event to celebrate and promote the great taste of Martinson Coffee," explained Sean Bredt, Vice President of Coffee for Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee, the company behind the Martinson brand. "Joe Martinson was a true New Yorker. He started his business in the city in 1898 and always had tremendous respect and love for his home. Stories about Joe personally selling his coffee in the streets of New York are legendary and part of the proud tradition of personal attention and commitment to quality that we continue to honor with the pledge that Martinson can beat the competition in taste, every time."
Martinson offers quality coffee blends for only pennies more than value-priced coffee options. From traditional blends like Donut Shop Brew to more exotic options like Light Latin Brew made from quality Latin American beans, Martinson coffee is roasted to the same fresh, full-bodied flavor that made Joe Martinson a legend with blends such as Dark Bold, Donut Shop, Light Latin, Mild Decaf and Rich African. That's why "It's The Real Joe™" is stamped on every package.
The new Martinson coffees include a percentage of beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. Rainforest Alliance certification helps to promote the rights and well-being of farm communities while protecting wildlife and conserving natural resources.
"We are pleased to add Martinson to the ranks of companies that are supporting a healthier future for the planet through sourcing sustainably produced coffee," said Tensie Whelan, president of the Rainforest Alliance. "The Rainforest Alliance Certified seal is an assurance that goods come from well managed farms that protect workers and wildlife."
Martinson brand coffees are available at Shoprite, A&P, Pathmark and Big "Y" retail outlets in New York and New Jersey.
