BANGKOK, April 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The Department of Export Promotion (DEP), together with the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) and German world-class event organizer Koelnmesse, is once again organizing Thailand's grandest food extravaganza of the year, the THAIFEX - World of Food ASIA 2011, under the concept of "Your Recipe of Success in Asia." This year's event is set to feature over 1,000 leading food-related companies, occupying over 2,600 booths. The THAIFEX - World of Food ASIA 2011 event is scheduled to run from May 25th to 29th, 2011, at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.

Mrs. Nuntawan Sakuntanaga, DEP Director-General, stated that, "The food industry is one of Thailand's key economic sectors that generates substantial revenue for the country each year. In 2010 alone, Thailand exported as much as 21,699 million USD worth of food products, and we expect that this robust growth is likely to continue. During January-February this year, Thailand's exported food volume saw an impressive growth of 15%, compared to the same period last year. Additionally, this year, many food-exporting countries have had to deal with major natural disasters, which have resulted in decreasing food supplies in the world market. On the other hand, the demand for food worldwide is on the rise. These combined factors will help pave the way for Thailand to expand its food export opportunities even further."

The event will serve as a platform for Thailand and Thai food manufacturers to promote their quality food-related products and technology to consumers and businesspeople from around the world. THAIFEX - World of Food ASIA 2011 aims to once again underline that, with internationally renowned food-producing capabilities and service excellence, the Thai food industry is well prepared and able to steer the country to become one of the most prominent food exposition hubs in Asia Pacific.

More than 1,000 leading food entrepreneurs will occupy over 2,600 booths, comprehensively showcasing their products and related services and technologies. Highlights include the showcase of a vast variety of food products, beverages, kitchen utensils, food-producing equipment and machinery, hotel catering equipment, as well as food-related services, consultation service for hotel businesses, retail technology, and overseas franchising.
