Massachusetts Retirement and Social Security Specialist, Susan Fisher, Offers Useful Advice to Help Boomers Avoid Retirement Mistakes

WAKEFIELD, Mass., March 21, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- There are significant changes happening in Social Security. Boomers are retiring and taking their benefits later. Because of increased life expectancy and improved health benefits, for many, there is less incentive to retire early. This is coupled with the fact that for most workers, Defined Benefit Plans have largely disappeared; replaced by Defined Contribution Plans which are funded by employees.

"Because these plans have been voluntary, retirees need other sources of readily available income. For those who can wait to take Social Security; they are rewarded with as much as 132% of their Primary Insurance Amount (PIA).

In addition, the Wall Street Journal reported that, "Uncle Sam is about to get a lot tougher on individual retirement account mistakes-and that could trip up investors who aren't careful."
