MassMutual Expands Relationship with Millennial Money Coach Farnoosh Torabi
Seeks to help Americans Reach Financial Security for Short- and Long-term
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Farnoosh Torabi, an independent Gen Y Money Coach, author and TV personality, has expanded her relationship with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) to help bring much-needed financial education to young adults, who often just are starting off in their professional careers and may be struggling under large amounts of college debt.
Torabi has been working with MassMutual's Retirement Services Division for the past two years to help reinforce the importance of retirement planning for young professionals. Now the two have expanded their relationship to promote and educate on the importance of overall financial wellness.
Across multiple social media platforms and news mediums, Torabi is a sought-after expert for her advice on Yahoo!, through her Webby-nominated show "Financially Fit," as well as through her Amazon-best-selling book, Psych Yourself Rich: Get The Mindset & Discipline You Need to Build Your Financial Life, her web-based Farnoosh.tv, Facebook and Twitter. She also has been featured on NBC's Today Show, ABC's Good Morning America and Katie, The View, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time, Real Simple and Cosmopolitan, as well as others.
"We are looking for Farnoosh to provide thoughtful, useful content to MassMutual's already robust social media and digital platforms," said Marie Politis, vice president of Online Experience for MassMutual's Life Company Marketing division. "Although her expertise lies in helping Millennials plan for their financial future, we fully expect that this information will be useful for all generations who are challenged by the same task."
"MassMutual and I share similar values regarding the importance of financial education," said Torabi, "We welcome the opportunity to help each other in spreading the word and providing information and education to a broad range of adults, but most specifically to Millennials, who have indicated that they may need the help more."
Torabi is referring to the MassMutual State of the American Family Study* findings that indicate only 27 percent of Millennials are confident they are doing a good job of preparing financially for their retirement, as compared to other generational groups who ranked higher by 3 – 5 percent. And 33 percent worry that they will outlive their retirement savings, as compared to other generations who ranked lower by up to 6 percent. More than a quarter of Millennials indicated that they feel they should be doing more to save for the future, but right now they're just struggling to get by.
Torabi will be presenting RetireSMARTSM seminars for MassMutual geared to women and savings, and will be featured in a new information-packed series, "Your Financial Future, NOW!," along with other young professionals who share their experiences, insights and challenges in managing their finances. The video seminar series will explore budgeting, managing debt, joint finances, protection products and planning for retirement.
Look for Torabi on MassMutual's Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube Platforms, as well as on massmutual.com.
