"The Colombian market, especially big centers like Bogota or Medellin, are more likely to invest in outsourcing," noted Frost & Sullivan ICT Research Analyst Bruno Tasco. "Large enterprises are beginning to understand the benefits of these business models and to trust service provider capabilities in guaranteeing availability."
Regular services, such as co-location and hosting, still have great demand. Promisingly, datacenters are now willing to add more value to their offering with dedicated hosting, storage, and disaster recovery.
In Mexico, the datacenter market is growing and developing successfully. Similar to Colombia, a stable economy and the willingness to outsource non-core IT activities is boosting market prospects.
"The need for companies to find trustworthy datacenters to store their information and applications will drive the market positively in the next years," remarked Tasco. "The Mexican datacenter market is experiencing a trend towards converged network infrastructure and improved computer and services offerings."
In Venezuela, as in Mexico and Colombia, companies are beginning to understand the importance of a third party to manage datacenter services so that they can focus on their core business.
Demand is growing and driven by cloud computing, mainly with virtual hosting and monitoring services, as a way to add more value to the offerings. Storage and security services are also gaining currency.
"Suppliers of outsourcing services should enhance and customize their offerings to meet the increasing corporate need for top quality, high performance, and completely secure IT services," advised Tasco. "This will help fully leverage the demand for datacenters across Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela."
