Maxim Healthcare Services Appoints New Chief Information Officer

COLUMBIA, Md., Jan. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. (www.maximhealthcare.com), an established provider of home healthcare, medical staffing, and wellness services, recently announced a new addition to the executive management team. Kevin Apperson is Maxim's new Chief Information Officer (CIO) and supports Maxim's strategic initiatives, manages business risks from an information technology (IT) standpoint, and oversees the Information Services (IS) Department.

As CIO, Kevin has been focused on performing a comprehensive review of Maxim's current systems, resources, and infrastructure. One of his first accomplishments in this role was the successful implementation of the Information Security Council, which was created to better focus on increasing security through IS policy management, comprehensive IS risk management, and IS security projects.

"Since joining the team, Kevin has played a critical role in the stabilization of the IS teams and systems to meet the needs and priorities of the business," said Bill Butz, Chief Financial Officer. Before joining the Maxim family, Kevin worked for Maxim's sister company, Allegis Group. While there, he held a variety of leadership roles over the course of 17 years. Ten of those years were as the CIO. As the CIO, he led the implementation of the company's IS Management System and IS Governance management processes. He also managed the company's efforts to redesign critical back office processes and systems and led the IS Department through several restructuring initiatives designed to create greater visibility of IS services.

"Our goal in the IS Department here at Maxim is to make sure that we deliver the most cost-efficient and effective technological solutions to drive the business," said Kevin. "This year we will concentrate our efforts on implementing a comprehensive Health Information Systems process that aligns with our vision and supports our efforts to provide quality healthcare services to our patients and clients."

Kevin received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia. He has also been recognized by Career Communications Group, Inc.'s Black Information and Technology Magazine as one of the Most Important Blacks in Technology during their annual Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) celebration for four consecutive years.
