"When you share your passion, it spreads to everyone around you," she told Women Worth Watching, an organization celebrating the achievements and personalities of leading women executives. "It can help you gain momentum at work, and in your personal life. It is an important energy element that should be included on the periodic table! If you are not passionate about what you're doing now, make a change."
Purvey will bring that spirited approach to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern NJ's 11th annual Celebration of Big Magic gala on Thursday, May 14th, where she'll be honored for her support of the agency. She's also being honored by Women Worth Watching this year.
The local mentoring agency will also honor its Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year, corporate partner Deloitte, and community partner Rutgers University.
The event, at the Hanover Marriott, 1401 Route 10 East, Whippany, begins with registration, cocktail reception, networking, live music and silent auction at 6 pm, with seated dinner and program beginning at 7 pm. All Celebration of Big Magic proceeds benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters' local mentoring programs, which served 964 children throughout northern New Jersey in 2014.
Purvey, a 29-year industry veteran, is responsible for creating and implementing all marketing, interactive digital, advertising and public relations initiatives for the Sotheby's International Realty® network, developing systems that are true to the brand's vision, unique positioning and savvy and refined personality. She initiated a partnership between Sotheby's, The Wall Street Journal and Big Brothers Big Sisters, providing donated ad space for the non-profit, which runs regionally, nationally and globally.
Purvey has earned a reputation for delivering marketing strategies that drive new business growth. Throughout her career she has been involved in multiple mergers and acquisitions and is experienced at bringing together multiple firms into new and existing brand identities. She joined the Sotheby's International Realty brand in November 2004 as senior vice president, marketing, and was promoted to chief marketing officer in April 2010.
In her current role, she has led the development of exclusive marketing partnerships with several key news outlets including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, the BBC and the Daily Telegraph, to provide the brand's network members a direct audience with some of the world's most qualified buyers and sellers. She also is spearheading a redesign of the brand's website, sothebysrealty.com, with the goal of redefining how consumers search for real estate. The brand's marketing efforts, which she leads, are designed to ensure the Sotheby's International Realty brand is positioned where consumers are searching for real estate.
Purvey is an active speaker at leading industry events, and is active in her local community. She currently serves as a trustee of the Sparta Education Foundation in Sparta, N.J., and has been instrumental in raising monies to benefit local education. She is the executive sponsor of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern NJ for Realogy Corporation.
Taryn Orama, the local agency's Big Sister of the Year and Little Sister Promise, along with Jeff Kallio, local Big Brother of the Year and Little Brother Josh, will also be honored at May 14th's gala. Orama has been matched with Promise for 3 years, and Kallio with Josh for 7.
