Mayoral Candidate Teresa Jacobs Posts One of the Strongest Single Fundraising Quarters of All Candidates, Breaking $100,000
ORLANDO, Fla., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- In just over eight weeks, the newest candidate to announce running for Mayor of Orange County, Teresa Jacobs, raised just under $110,000. That's the strongest single quarter showing of all but one of the candidates, and it's especially impressive because Teresa Jacobs is no longer serving on the County Commission.
"I'm very encouraged by what we raised in just over eight weeks," said Jacobs. "But what is more heartening than the amount of contributions is the source of those contributions. Many of my contributors have never financially supported a campaign before. They are former constituents and average citizens. That's what my campaign is about. It's about giving people a real voice and a role in shaping the future of our community. It's about changing the culture of county government to make citizens the priority, not special interest groups, not politicians! It's about making government open and accountable to the taxpayers, not just the insiders."
Over 40% of Teresa's contributions were made over the internet, which may be attributed to the fact that Jacobs announced her candidacy online. Over half of her contributions are amounts under $100.
"While contributions are an indicator of a candidate's support, they are not the deciding factor; issues are. That's why I am again offering a challenge to all my opponents to a series of in-depth debates," said Jacobs.
