Mazin Education Wins Statewide Assessment Contract in Indiana
Indiana Selects Mazin Assess for Career and Technical Education Assessment Pilot Program
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Educational software developer Mazin Education (www.mazineducation.com) has been selected to administer Career and Technical Education (CTE) course assessments for the state of Indiana. The statewide pilot program will use Mazin Assess™, a cutting-edge online assessment engine developed by Mazin Education, to track student achievement and growth in select CTE courses.
The 2012-2013 Indiana CTE Course Assessment Project is part of the Indiana College and Career Pathways program, which provides an aligned sequence of secondary and postsecondary courses to help students prepare for high-skill, high-wage careers that are in demand in the state of Indiana. The Indiana CTE Assessment Project is designed to ensure that students are on track for an industry-recognized credential, technical certification, or an associate or baccalaureate degree.
The 2012-2013 pilot program will roll out online assessments for five CTE courses, ranging from Nutrition and Wellness to Personal Financial Responsibility. Mazin Education's sister company, PRES Associates, is providing psychometric expertise in piloting assessment items and helping to develop the final assessments for the courses. Based on the spring pilot results and the associated item analyses, final versions of the course assessments will be developed and administered by PRES Associates and Mazin Education in May, 2013.
"We're happy to be working with the Indiana CTE Course Assessment Project," says John McHale, Chief Operating Officer for Mazin Education. "Mazin Assess™ has the right suite of tools for this project, and is adaptable enough to grow with the program as their needs change."
Mazin Assess™ was developed specifically to help states and districts accurately assess the kinds of knowledge students must demonstrate for college and career success. The new statewide Indiana contract for Mazin Education follows a successful CTE assessment pilot for the state of Wyoming. "Mazin Assess™ is the most flexible and adaptable assessment program on the market today," says Mariam Azin, founder of Mazin Education. "We developed Mazin Assess™ because we needed the ability to generate a greater variety of item types to accurately measure the kinds of knowledge demanded by the Common Core State Standards and new CTE standards. We can go way beyond multiple choice to develop any type of online assessment that Indiana may need in the future."
Mazin Assess™ is one of two educational software programs developed by Mazin Education. Mazin EnCompass™, an online dropout prevention and student services management program, will formally launch in the spring of 2013.
