McGuffin Creative Group Announces 2014 Recipient Of The McGuffin Grant

CHICAGO, June 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- McGuffin Creative Group, an advertising and communications agency based in Chicago's West Loop, has awarded the San Diego-based nonprofit Traveling Stories its 2014 McGuffin Grant.

Founded in 2010, Traveling Stories (travelingstories.org) establishes libraries in villages around the world – communities that previously had little or no access to books. The group also offers free literacy coaching to underserved communities in the US through their Story Tents, which are set up at farmers markets and other public events, offering a comfortable, encouraging reading oasis for kids. The organization was chosen among several qualified applicants to receive $25,000 in creative strategies and design solutions from McGuffin. 

In their application, the group asked McGuffin to help them craft an identity for, and help build awareness of, a new social franchise program that will allow people who believe in the Traveling Stories mission to open an international library or launch a local Story Tent under the Traveling Stories brand umbrella.

"We received applications from several remarkable groups, so the choice of a recipient was especially hard this year," says Chris Sculles, president of McGuffin Creative Group. "But as a group of communicators, we gravitated toward Traveling Stories' belief in the ability of literacy to open the doors of opportunity. Just as important, we felt their social franchising objective was well-defined and meshed with the things the McGuffin Grant does best."

Now in its fourth year, the McGuffin Grant was created to provide one nonprofit organization each year free access to McGuffin's team of designers, copywriters and strategists. The agency's work is determined by the client's needs and goals, and can include the creation of marketing campaigns or solving specific challenges with a brand, among other things.

McGuffin Creative Group is a 25-member creative agency whose specialties range from branding to advertising, web design to direct marketing. Founded in 2004, some of the firm's clients include BMO Harris Bank, Allstate, Cadence Health and Cars.com.
