MDPromptPay Offers New "Team Up" Approach for Medical Bill Negotiations

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., May 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- In the medical industry, it is commonplace for medical providers to negotiate payment discounts off billed charges with insurance companies in exchange for more patient volume. Well, MDPromptPay takes that same approach, but with the consumer in mind.

When a consumer engages and authorizes MDPromptPay to negotiate a Team Up discount for them, their unpaid medical bills are bundled with other consumer's medical bills for the same medical provider which are then negotiated in mass. Once a prompt payment discount amount has been reached, 100 percent of the savings is passed along to all consumers within the bundle.

The difference between the two negotiation options is the processing fee methodology charged to negotiate the discount. "We believe that simple, reasonable and up-front pricing is the best approach," Profusek said. "We set a flat rate for both. But, since the Team Up approach is more efficient and less costly to negotiate, we charge a lower up-front fee."
