CLEVELAND, Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Meaden & Moore is honored to receive the 2009 Pillar Award for Community Service. Meaden & Moore was selected to receive the Fairmount Minerals Sustainable Business Award, which is the Pillar Award that recognizes the organization that best demonstrates sustainable business practices.
The Pillar Awards were developed in 1998 by Smart Business and Medical Mutual to honor businesses dedicated to making Northeast Ohio a better place to live. The program spotlights philanthropy, volunteerism, and creative ideas about how to impact communities. It honors companies and individuals who go beyond the minimum expectation of community service, and it provides grants for nonprofit organizations in their mission to serve the people of Northeast Ohio.
"Your commitment to developing and fostering sustainable business practices as part of your organization's charitable works are a tribute to this region and we congratulate you on your achievements," said Dustin S. Klein, executive editor of Smart Business in a letter to Meaden & Moore.
Fairmount Minerals, the Chardon-based producer of industrial sand and coated sand products that sponsors the sustainable business award, congratulated the firm on its achievements. "Fairmount Minerals commends Meaden & Moore for their commitment to the principles of people, planet and prosperity," the company said. "By promoting company-wide sustainability initiatives, Meaden & Moore shares our dedication to sustainable business practices."
James P. Carulas, CEO of Meaden & Moore, said a commitment to community is an important part of the firm's guiding principles. "When employees are given the chance to make a difference both in the office and out in the community where they live and work, it creates a spirit that can make a lot of good things happen," he said.
The firm annually contributes various charities in the region and provides employees with paid time off work to help charities of their choice. The firm also provides deeply discounted professional services to many nonprofit organizations to better enable them to advance their own missions.
"Meaden & Moore is committed to creating an environment that nurtures creativity, innovation, teamwork and service," said Carulas. "We are honored and humbled to have received this special Pillar Award."
