LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Med-X, Inc. (Med-X) today announced that it has been qualified by The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to sell shares to the general public through its Regulation A+ equity crowdfunding initiative as the next phase in the company's fundraising strategy. Med-X is the first company in the cannabis industry to be qualified by the SEC for a public offering under these rules. This offering will present an enticing and unique opportunity for anyone interested in investing in the burgeoning cannabis industry, which is expected to yield billions in revenue annually.
In an unprecedented development in March 2015, the SEC finalized rules under Title IV of the 2012 Jumpstart Our Business Startups (JOBS) Act, paving the way for private companies to raise up to $50 million from non-accredited investors. This new ruling is known as Regulation A+, and it allows everyday Americans to invest in private companies such as Med-X.
With an eye toward the future, Med-X is developing several divisions: media information network, research & development, agriculture and manufacturing for the expanding medical and recreational cannabis industry. The company's relationships in the medical and biochemistry fields give it the ability to position itself as a long-term player in the industry. Med-X has engaged CrowdfundX, a leading crowdfunding agency, to manage their equity crowdfunding campaign, which will be launched on the StartEngine platform.
"We are honored to be recognized as a leader in the cannabis industry, and are pleased to be engaging with StartEngine and CrowdfundX on the new Reg A+ Crowdfunding platform," said Dr. David Toomey, CEO of Med-X.
In February 2015, Med-X opened its first facility to cultivate 100% natural and organically grown medical marijuana for its research & development program. Med-X's management recognized a huge need to bring medical marijuana to the medical community that is free of pesticides, mold, and other harmful substances. It is important to know that today, the cultivation quality of medical marijuana being distributed nationally through a wide range of dispensaries is not regulated.
