Medbox, Inc. Files International PCT Application

WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Dec. 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Medbox, Inc. (OTC Markets: MDBX) (www.medboxinc.com), announced today that it has filed a PCT application on its patent pending storage and retrieval lockbox system called the Lockbox Rx. The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) enables the U.S. applicant to file one application, "an international application," in a standardized format in English in the U.S. Receiving Office (the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office), and have that application acknowledged as a regular national or regional filing in any State or region that is party to the PCT. This will extend the time for the company to file foreign patent applications, in any or all participating global jurisdiction of its choosing, until June 6, 2014 and still obtain credit for the earlier United States filing date. The underlying patent application is step upward from the company's approved medicine dispensing patent (US 7,844,363 B1).

The Lockbox Rx is a unique system that allows pharmacists to load a customer's medicine into a secure lockbox for later retrieval. The customer can pick up their medicine at their convenience through the self-service system by swiping their authorization card and placing their index finger on a scanner that compares the fingerprint to one taken at registration. Once the patient's identity has been verified, a lockbox door opens and they can access their medicine. 

The Lockbox Rx system also maintains a permanent record of each operation, including a photograph of every person conducting a transaction, thereby increasing security while virtually eliminating fraud.

The system is designed to lighten the pharmacist's workload while increasing their capacity and enhancing the customer experience. As a result, it functions as a "Pharmacist's Assistant."
