MediaCore Automotive Multimedia Middleware now on OMAP™ 5 from TI

Jungo Connectivity Ltd, a leading provider of automotive middleware and connectivity solutions, today announced the availability of its MediaCore multimedia middleware on the OMAP5 platform from Texas Instruments (TI.)

OMAP 5 is the most recent generation of TI's OMAP, a system-on chip designed for multimedia applications running in automobiles. The porting of MediaCore to OMAP 5 positions both companies to benefit from future opportunities in the In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) market.

MediaCore, from Jungo Connectivity, is an automotive multimedia middleware that facilitates the rapid development of embedded multimedia players for IVI systems. It supports playback and distribution of media in the car and provides connectivity to all the different smartphones and protocols needed for an enhanced IVI multimedia experience

The latest version of MediaCore that has been integrated with OMAP 5 includes support for DLNA and the latest Apple protocols, enhanced media indexing, and full audio and video playback leveraging hardware acceleration from the OMAP 5 system-on-chip.

A number of automotive customers are already in production using the TI-Jungo solution.
