Medical Simulation Corporation Partners with Hutchinson Technology in Training of Healthcare Professionals on Noninvasive Tissue Oxygenation Monitoring
DENVER, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Medical Simulation Corporation (MSC) has partnered with biomeasurement technology leader Hutchinson Technology to develop and deliver simulation-based education around the InSpectra™ StO2 Tissue Oxygenation Monitor.
The InSpectra StO2 Monitor provides continuous, real-time information for perfusion status monitoring to aid clinical decision-making, help reduce and treat the incidence of shock more effectively and ultimately deliver better patient care. Effective training is essential to: understanding how StO2 differs from traditional vital signs; and, accurately interpreting InSpectra StO2 Measurements for early detection of inadequate tissue perfusion.
Working closely with Hutchinson's clinical education team, MSC developed a simulated patient case scenario on a high-fidelity human patient simulator to enhance Hutchinson's training on using the monitor in clinical practice. The training, delivered by MSC clinical educators, presents an actual patient case that allows clinicians working in emergency medicine, critical care and perioperative areas to practice using InSpectra StO2 to screen and monitor tissue oxygenation in trauma and critical care patients.
"We are excited to partner with MSC in bringing the InSpectra StO2 Monitor to market," says Victoria Makela, Director of Education and Training, Hutchinson Technology, Inc. "MSC's high-fidelity simulation training solutions will provide a more realistic and effective training experience for clinicians, ultimately helping to improve the quality of health care and reduce costs."
"MSC's customized product training solutions for medical manufacturers enable increased profitability through accelerated adoption, increased number of treated patients and measurable training results," says Bill Younkes, MSC President. "We are excited to partner with Hutchinson Technology to enhance clinician education on a product that can improve the quality of health care and reduce costs."
MSC has delivered the InSpectra StO2 simulation course to approximately 50 physicians at Hutchinson Technology's Advanced StO2 Education Programs (ASTEP) in New York, Chicago, Denver and Lincoln. Upcoming training for physicians and nurses includes ASTEP, October 15-16, 2010, in Minneapolis.
