Anthem Blue Cross Members May Soon Have Additional Choices for Urgent Care Services
MILPITAS, Calif., Nov. 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- PosiMed Venture, a San Jose-based healthcare technology company, announces partnership with Bimpies, Inc., a Milpitas-based technology startup, to provide medical service appointments "on-demand." Both organizations will join in a regional program to enable Anthem Blue Cross members to quickly access primary care services rather than visit local emergency rooms.

Dr. Tam Nguyen, an Internal Medicine physician who heads PosiMed Venture, hopes to give patients in the Bay Area a greater variety of choices when urgent care needs are necessary. "Silicon Valley is flooded with many on-demand startups, but we found Bimpies to have the most agile and functional system that allows us to accomplish what we hoped to do in the shortest amount of time," says Dr. Tam Nguyen.
During this stage of the program, Anthem Blue Cross intends to communicate with its members to use the Bimpies mobile app should urgent care needs arise. Members would be able to access the location-services enabled app on a mobile device to find the nearest urgent care center and notify the facility that they are on the way. "This will cut down the wait time for patients as doctors will know ahead of time who is arriving and when they are arriving, allowing doctors to see the patient as soon as they enter the door," says John Chang, Founder and CEO of Bimpies, Inc.

By also partnering with a variety of medical professionals in the Bay Area. The regional program will be rolled out in the following weeks with Anthem Blue Cross.
