Melissa Smith Joins Malibu Beach Recovery Centers As New Clinical Director
MALIBU, Calif., Aug. 14, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Malibu Beach Recovery Centers (MBRC), a leading West Coast treatment center for men and women addicted to alcohol, opiates, prescription medication and other drugs, has announced that Melissa Smith, LCSW, has joined its staff as Clinical Director.
Smith now leads clinical programming at MBRC's medically supervised subacute detox center in Brentwood and residential treatment centers in Malibu, California, as well as comprehensive case management and coordination of continuing care.
At MBRC Smith, a licensed clinical social worker who has a Master of Social Work from University of Southern California, provides supervision and training for a multidisciplinary team of experts, conducts assessments and maintains the highest standards of care. She has more than a decade of experience providing individual, group and family counseling, case management, program management and clinical direction at all levels of substance abuse treatment.
Using an integrative, medical model of addiction treatment, MBRC helps individuals safely and comfortably withdraw from alcohol and drugs, and seamlessly transition into residential or intensive outpatient addiction treatment. MBRC's evidence-based therapies combine medical, clinical, experiential and holistic treatments to help patients build the skills needed to resist cravings; recognize triggers; develop coping skills; manage and overcome co-occurring disorders such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders and trauma; and sustain sobriety.
MBRC integrates traditional therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and group therapy with innovative experiential and holistic programming to heal the whole person. Experiential and holistic programs include yoga, meditation, wolf therapy and nutrition counseling, with healthy meals prepared onsite by chefs to restore brain chemistry and address vitamin deficits that can occur from substance use.
"We're excited that Melissa Smith has joined Malibu Beach Recovery Centers," said Edmund Bujalski, Chief Executive Officer of RiverMend Health, the parent company of MBRC. "Her experience working with clients and their families, as well as in program management and clinical direction, will help us to continue to enhance the recovery programming available for clients at MBRC."
