DALLAS, Sept. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN), supports the recent letter sent by the four primary co-sponsors of the National Blue Alert Act to the US Attorney General Loretta Lynch expressing concern about the lack of progress in implementing the National Blue Alert Act. The COPsync Network™ is currently operating in 14 states and has been used to protect the lives of law enforcement officers, rescue kidnapped children and protect schools from threats.
In December 2014, New York Police officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu were assassinated while sitting in their patrol car in Brooklyn. The Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu National Blue Alert Act of 2015 (the "Act") was subsequently enacted and requires the US Attorney General to develop a national communications network to disseminate officer safety alerts to law enforcement officers.
According to a recent USA Today article, as of fifteen months later, the law has yet to be implemented by the DOJ.
The COPsync Network already fulfills the requirements of the National Blue Alert Act. The Network distributes officer safety warning alerts to all of the officers on the Network in real-time and directly to them in their patrol cars.
Ronald A. Woessner, CEO of COPsync, commented, "In July 2016 America experienced the greatest loss of law enforcement life in one incident since the horrific events of 9/11. The COPsync Network helps keep America's law enforcement officers safer. It fulfills the requirements of the National Blue Alert Act by providing officers real-time access to officer safety warning alerts. COPsync plans to work with the Blue Alert Foundation to help the Department of Justice implement the requirements of the Act."
