Memorial Hospital Selects DigitalPersona Pro to Enhance HIPAA Security

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- DigitalPersona, Inc., a global provider of authentication and endpoint protection solutions, today announced that Memorial Hospital of Union County, Marysville, OH., has selected the DigitalPersona® Pro endpoint protection suite to help meet the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements for secure access to electronic health records (EHR).  DigitalPersona's centrally-managed biometric authentication solution allows Memorial Hospital to prevent unauthorized access to confidential patient records.  Additionally, the DigitalPersona solution has helped Memorial Hospital reduce IT costs from password resets.  In deploying its secure EHR, Memorial Hospital will be eligible to secure federal grant dollars.  

Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit independent community hospital provides acute and  primary  care to more than 40,000 residents of Union County and five surrounding counties.  Memorial's IT staff is currently rolling out DigitalPersona's strong authentication solution to more than 600 employees.  Memorial Hospital required a solution that would provide authorized users with quick, secure access to PCs in compliance with HIPAA.  Authorized users include Memorial Hospital's full-time employees as well as contingent employees who only work at the hospital two or three days each month.  Given that they work at many hospitals and have to remember logins for many different systems, contingent staff traditionally have the highest password reset rate.
