Mendix Joins Major League Hacking to Bring No-Code Application Development Workshops to University Students

BOSTON, Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Mendix, the fastest and easiest platform to create and continuously improve mobile and web applications, today announced a partnership with Major League Hacking (MLH) to provide access to training and resources for students to build applications using the Mendix low-code platform through the MLH Localhost technical workshop program during on campus hackathons.

This collaboration is the latest offering from the Mendix University Program which aims to provide students and professors the technology and knowledge to build working apps on campus. The goal of this Mendix University Program partnership with MLH Localhost is to provide free hands-on learning opportunities to professors and students across the globe to gain the skills needed to succeed in a software-driven world.

"Using low-code made it possible for students who didn't have any coding background as well as those who are proficient with traditional coding to actually build a functioning application in a matter of hours. It helped to break down a perceived barrier of the level of know-how needed to build custom applications and excite students of all skills and backgrounds about developing applications to solve specific problems."

As part of the No-Code App Building with Mendix Workshop, MLH Localhost provides student organizers with all the materials needed to plan and deliver the workshop themselves. Student attendees are given a use-case to build an application that could be used to organize a charitable event on-campus. By the end of the 2-hour workshop, participants will have a fully deployed and working web and mobile app. Students and Professors from all universities are invited to host a MLH Localhost Workshop using Mendix, joining 15 other universities already slated for the Fall 2018 semester.
