Beautiful skies and happy tails took over Mervis Diamonds as dozens of dogs and puppies happily greeted customers. Over $500 was raised for the animal shelter and five dogs were adopted and fostered.
"This trunk show was unlike any other we've had at Mervis. Clients and members of our Mervis team were so excited. It was an honor working with Homeward Trails and Wylie Wagg. Both organizations were created by families looking to change people's lives. Homeward Trails and Wylie Wagg do such amazing things for our community, and it was a pleasure to be able to give back to them. Having the puppies and dogs around all day was just an added bonus. Dogs are so cute-and happy. You can't help but get excited by the wagging tails," said Jonathan Mervis of Mervis Diamonds.
Founded in 2001, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization that provides pet adoption in Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland. Homeward Trails works to find homes for dogs and cats rescued from high-kill animal shelters and also accepts surrenders from owners who can no longer care for their pets, and also animals that were found as strays. In the past decade, Homeward Trails has found more than 14,000 animals homes.
Wylie Wagg, a locally owned and operated small pet shop was also on hand for the weekend with an assortment of organic, healthy dog treats, animal care education and a raffle filled with treats and toys for dogs valued at over $100. Built on family values, Wylie Wagg supports the health and well-being of animals, while raising awareness of the importance of animal rescue.
Clients of Mervis Diamond Importers were able to view a variety of designers over the weekend including Verragio, Tacori, Jeff Cooper Designs and more. A portion of the entire weekend's sales were donated to Homeward Trails Animal Rescue.
When asked what brought them in to the store, one newly engaged couple laughed amidst snuggles from several of the Homeward Trails dogs and said, "I came to get a diamond, but he came to get a dog…so we got both!"
