Methodist Hospital for Surgery Wins Quality Improvement Award
ADDISON, Texas, May 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Methodist Hospital for Surgery is proud to announce the facility has received a Gold Award from the Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Awards committee and the TMF Health Quality Institute, an organization that leverages federal, state and local government contracts for the means to promote quality healthcare. Only 33 hospitals in the state received a Gold Award—the highest award level within the Texas Hospital Quality Improvement Awards program.
"This award recognizes our hospital for having demonstrated excellence in healthcare quality through exceptional performance meeting stringent national quality criteria," says Chris Shoup, president. "It further demonstrates that we have an exceptional team of caregivers who are committed to continually improving the quality of care to our patients."
The Texas Physician Practice Quality Improvement Award program was established in 2012; the non-competitive program is designed to recognize and encourage Texas-based physician practices that are achieving exemplary patient outcomes. Sponsored by TMF Health Quality Institute, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Texas, Texas Medical Association and Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, the award program focuses specifically on practices that utilize health information technology to improve preventive care for their patients.
"To earn our Gold Award, we had to meet specific achievement thresholds for value-based purchasing and Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR) measures," explains Shoup. "In addition, Gold Award winners had to demonstrate 20 percent relative improvement in reduction of readmissions during the award evaluation period, or an absolute readmissions rate of 9 percent or lower."
Methodist Hospital for Surgery will be officially recognized during an award ceremony hosted by TMF Health Quality Institute, Texas Hospital Association and the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals on Wednesday, June 11, at the Hilton Austin Airport Hotel.
