US Citizens and US Green Card Holders generally have a US tax filing obligation regardless of where they live and work. Therefore individuals still need to file a US return even while living overseas.  If certain requirements are met, individuals will also be required to file a Foreign Bank Account Report (FBAR) along with other possible reporting obligations for certain foreign transactions.
