Miami Injury Law Firm to Award Community-Minded Florida Student with Academic Scholarship

MIAMI, June 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Kaire & Heffernan, LLC is currently accepting scholarship applications from Florida high school seniors actively engaged in trying to make the world a better, safer, and more charitable place. The scholarship recognizes promising young students whose involvement in their communities reflects the values revered by the leading Miami injury lawyers.

"We're excited to announce this year's scholarship. As attorneys, we understand that community service is no mere gesture. It has a real and measurable impact on our neighbors, loved ones, and friends," stated Mark Kaire, an attorney and founder of Kaire & Heffernan, LLC.

The recipient of the community-oriented scholarship will receive $1,000 to cover the cost of their tuition; however, that's not all. The Miami injury law firm will also make a $500 contribution to a local 501 (c)(3) non-profit where the scholarship recipient volunteered their time.

"This is just one small way for us to give back to the community. For the students and local organizations working hard to make a positive impact on the neighborhoods we call home, this is our own special way of saying 'thank you,'" stated attorney David Heffernan.

To be eligible for the scholarship, the applicant must be currently enrolled as a senior in a Florida high school with a minimum 3.0 GPA and accepted to an accredited 4-year college or university program. They must also be a resident of Florida and the United States of America as well as have volunteered at a local Florida 501 (c)(3) non-profit. Students who would like to be considered for the scholarship should also submit a short essay (1 to 3 pages) describing his or her experiences while volunteering or working with a non-profit organization in their local community. The essay should describe how the experience has helped to define the student's values or impacted the student's education and life.

"We are happy to consider a wide range of non-profit organizations and volunteer activities. It is not necessary for the organization related to the practice of law," stressed Kaire.

Last year, the law firm awarded its first scholarship to Madeline Mae, a graduate of Melbourne Central Catholic High School (MCC). Along with graduating at the top of her class, the inspirational teen served as a youth ambassador for the National Voices for Equality, Education, and Enlightenment (NVEEE). The organization helps prevent bullying, violence, and suicide among youth, families and communities through direct service, mentoring and prevention education.
