Miami Marriott Dadeland Hotel Unveils New Art-Inspired "Design" Guestrooms and Contemporary New Lobby

The newly designed guest rooms demonstrate the designer's use of room proportion as the leading design of the room and informing the space, as opposed to traditional furnishings and multiple patterns, seen in the previous design of Marriott guest rooms.  "The new design is confident and makes a strong statement. It has both style and character as it is a reflection of our guests who choose to stay with us. They're smart, successful and want their hotel to reflect their standards of style," said Maribel Vazquez, General Manager of Miami Marriott Dadeland. "We also adopted a 'less is more' aesthetic and used the inherent beauty of natural materials such as linen, wood and canvas."

"We wanted to create spaces that are memorable and distinctive to the guests. And we also wanted to express this in a sophisticated and nuanced way that makes this guest room a destination unto itself," said Donna Stasiak, Principal of S5 Interior Design and Architecture.

Another important aspect of the new design is the use of a local, Miami-based artist's work in the rooms.  Large murals in each room are photographs by artist Alejandro Borgese.  The work was commissioned exclusively for the Miami Marriott Dadeland hotel and are part of a series called "Wild Line." Alejandro spent a year living in the Everglades National Park and photographed flowers that are native to this region. A unique part of South Florida, the Everglades are the largest tropical wilderness in the United States. The third-largest national park in the lower 48 states, the Everglades has been declared an International Biosphere Reserve, a World Heritage Site, and a Wetland of International Importance, one of only three locations in the world to appear on all three lists. Alejandro was able to photograph these flowers in their four different life stages.  The artist used 17 different flowers and every guest room floor of the hotel is represented by a different flower from the Everglades National Park.  "We wanted a local artist to do the work and Alejandro is very passionate about nature, the eco system and his commitment to preservation of our ecological system," said Mrs. Vazquez.

Miami Marriott Dadeland's redesign has also included a new front desk area that comprises the use of white marble, contemporary lighting and a comfortable lobby bar area that includes several flat screen TVs, ample seating and a delicious appetizer and cocktail menu. The hotel has also recently undergone a renovation to their porte cochere and valet parking area. The neighboring hotel, Courtyard Miami Dadeland, has also seen a recent renovation of all of their guest rooms and their front desk and lobby areas.

Miami Marriott Dadeland was the first hotel in the collection of hotels operated by MDM Hotel Group. The 24 story hotel tower located in Miami's Dadeland area consists of 302 guest rooms and three concierge levels.
