MIB Elects a New Chairman, Vice Chairman and One New Director to its Board
BRAINTREE, Mass., May 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MIB Group, Inc., the life and health insurance industry's most trusted resource for underwriting information, risk assessment and analytical services, is pleased to announce the election of its Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for 2015-16, and the election of one new director, all of whom are highly-experienced insurance industry veterans serving as senior officers of MIB member companies. As a membership corporation, MIB's Board is composed of 12 volunteer directors, each of whom represents one member from among MIB's 430 North American member insurance companies, and one internal director, MIB's President and Chief Executive Officer.
Effective May 8th, Joseph L. Pray, CLU, ChFC, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Trustmark Companies, will succeed Thomas F. English, Esq., Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Insurance Counsel for the New York Life Insurance Company, as Chairman of the Board. David P. Wheeler, FALU, FLMI, Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Mortality Markets for RGA Reinsurance Company, will serve as Vice Chairman. Mr. English will remain on the MIB Board of Directors as Immediate Past Chair.
Newly elected to a three-year term on the MIB Board of Directors, Brooks Tingle, Senior Vice President John Hancock Insurance, Marketing and Strategy for Manulife Financial, begins his term at the same time.

Mr. Pray joined the MIB Board in 2011 and will serve as its new Chairman, 2015-2016. As President and Chief Executive Officer of the Trustmark Companies, he is responsible for all aspects of the company's business, including its primary operating divisions: CoreSource, Starmark, Voluntary Benefit Solutions and HealthFitness Corp.
He joined Trustmark in 2002 as Vice President of Sales, Voluntary Benefit Solutions, and was later promoted to Senior Vice President in 2007. He has over 30 years' experience in the insurance industry. In addition to serving on the Trustmark Board, Mr. Pray currently serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Lake County, IL and America's Health Insurance Plans.
Mr. Wheeler joined the MIB Board in 2011 and will serve as its new Vice Chairman, 2015-2016. As Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Mortality Markets for RGA Reinsurance Company, he has responsibility for the management of more than 100,000 U.S. facultative underwriting cases per year and for the medical, professional and support associates who process them. In addition, he is accountable for U.S. underwriting risk management and facultative mortality results, and leads underwriting participation in decisions regarding pricing, marketing and claims. Mr. Wheeler is a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting and Fellow of the Life Management Institute. He served as Treasurer for the Association of Home Office Underwriters (AHOU), 2007 – 2010, and on the Academy of Life Underwriting Education Committee as Exam Writer, 1999 – 2002, and as Secretary, 2003 – 2007. He currently serves on the ACLI Risk Classification Committee, 2008 - present.
Mr. Tingle begins his first term on the MIB Board in May 2015. He is Senior Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, John Hancock Insurance and leads all of John Hancock's insurance marketing activities, as well as developing and implementing their market expansion strategy. Prior to his current role, Mr. Tingle was SVP and COO, Life Insurance where he led underwriting, IT and operations. In 2012, he was chosen to lead the efficiency and effectiveness initiative for Manulife's global operations. He has held diverse roles in the company's life, annuity and long term care businesses and in 2004, oversaw the successful integration of the life insurance operations of John Hancock and Manulife's U.S. Division. Mr. Tingle is a member of the Board of Directors of John Hancock Networking Insurance Agency, Inc. and is also a member of IBM's North American Insurance Advisory Council. He is a FINRA registered representative and registered principal.
Mr. Tingle is a former Chair and current director on the Board of the Better Business Bureau for Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont. He is a director and member of the Executive Committee on the Board of the New England-Canada Business Council and serves on the Board of Directors of The Partnership, Inc.
