MECHANICSBURG, Pa., Feb. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Filing for benefits as a disabled Veteran often goes beyond filing a claim to the Regional Veterans' Affairs Office. If the initial claim application is denied, which is not unusual, an elaborate appeals process must be undertaken.

In 2010, Charles Grassley of Iowa, a key Senator on the Senate Finance Committee, said that figures cited in a recent case argued before the Supreme Court showed that between 50 percent and 70 percent of veterans' benefits claims had been unjustifiably denied.
