Michael Garson Joins Ankura as Senior Managing Director

Michael Garson has more than 20 years of experience as an attorney in private practice, an in-house general counsel, and a C-suite operations and compliance executive. In those roles, he has advised enterprises of all sizes on US federal, state, and municipal procurements and grants and has specific expertise in the defense, intelligence and technology markets. He specializes in assisting clients as they build and execute market strategies, in the preparation of winning bids and proposals, and in the design of compliant and efficient business processes and systems.

In addition, Mr. Garson develops and monitors ethics and compliance programs, conducts internal investigations, and oversees data management, intellectual property and cybersecurity practices for clients. He also prepares and analyzes high-stake claims for litigation and is an experienced specialist in both pre-acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integrations for business issues involving government contractors, including involvement in several matters with the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and FOCI-mitigated entities with facility clearances.

Before joining Ankura, Mr. Garson provided government contracting and business advisory services to a variety of companies through his own independent consulting firm, Strategys Consulting. Before that, he served in various capacities over a 12-year period for US defense contractor LGS Innovations and its main predecessor, Lucent Technologies Government Solutions. While at LGS, Mr. Garson's roles notably included executive vice president and chief administrative officer, general counsel and secretary, and chief compliance and ethics officer. Mr. Garson began his professional career as an attorney in private legal practice in the DC metropolitan area, representing clients in government contracting and grant matters.
