Michigan Businesses Seek Talent from Across the Nation During DREAMJOB Summit
Event to Highlight Michigan as a Great Place to Live and Work to Local and National Job Seekers
LANSING, Mich., March 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Michigan has gained more than a quarter million jobs since early 2010, according to the University of Michigan, and is projected to add another 130,000 in the next two years.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation today announced the state's largest matchmaking summit to highlight Michigan as a great place to live and work, bringing Michigan employers with job openings together with career seekers from across the state and around the country.
The Pure Michigan DREAMJOB summit will take place at Ford Field in Detroit on June 13, 2014, with more than 100 of the state's leading businesses looking to meet with job candidates using an innovative matchmaking format.
"Talent is one of Michigan's most valuable advantages for growing businesses and Pure Michigan DREAMJOB will bring together both companies and job seekers to build their futures here," said Governor Rick Snyder. "It will be the knowledge, skills and hard work of our workforce that separate Michigan from others in a competitive global marketplace. This is a showcase opportunity for all that makes Michigan a great place to live, work, build a business and enjoy our unique quality of life."
More than 100 Michigan employers from across the state will seek to fill more than 1,000 jobs through an innovative format that pairs qualified candidates with available job openings based on skills, experience and employer needs. Each employer will be stationed in its own booth for walk-ups and will have private space for interviews with candidates who have been pre-screened for the invitation-only matchup.
Participating companies include Quicken Loans, Whirlpool, Bosch, Lear, Delphi, Nissan, McCann Erickson, Roush, and Microsoft. These and other companies are seeking candidates for positions in a wide range of fields, including but not limited to: engineering, design, project management, supply chain management, finance, operations, sales, marketing and software development.
Job seekers from Michigan and around the country are encouraged to visit www.puremichigandreamjob.com to learn more about the event or view and apply for one or more positions.
MEDC teams will work with participating employers to pre-qualify applicants for a series of 20-minute interviews throughout the day. Once approved, candidates will receive their interview schedules. The all-day event also will include information about living in Michigan, tours of downtown work spaces, networking reception and an opportunity to attend a Tigers game.
"Talent is the new currency in economic development and the surest way to grow our economy," said Michael Finney, president and CEO of MEDC. "Pure Michigan DREAMJOBS is an innovative way to match the talent needs of Michigan companies with people who can provide experience, capabilities and energies companies require to succeed. At the same time, it means new job opportunities for our people who can bring highly valued talents to many of the best names in Michigan business."
