Michigan man could win $1M with a correct pick in Sunday's big game
1 in 5M odds for final FourPlay Football Perfect Season contestant
BIRMINGHAM, Mich., Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dominic Mirabella of Royal Oak, Michigan could win $1 million if he chooses correctly in Sunday's game between New England and Atlanta. Dominic has made 80 consecutive correct picks so far.
Mirabella is the final contestant remaining in FourPlay Football's $1 million Perfect Season Contest. The contest offers a $1 million prize to any player who completes a perfect season in a FourPlay Football league with 10 or more members for the 2016-2017 professional or college football season. Mirabella hasn't said who he's picking for Sunday's game and doesn't claim any great skill or strategy in how he's made his picks thus far.
"Honestly, this season has been built on a lot of luck," Mirabella said. He has the chance to beat 1 in 5 million odds to win the "Perfect Season Contest" with a correct pick on Sunday. "I have been playing fantasy football for years, but I want to root for teams, not just the all-stars across the league. FourPlay lets me get back into watching and enjoying the game like I used to."
Mirabella works in the financial services industry. In his free time, he is a weekly volunteer with a Royal Oak, Michigan-based Camp Casey, a nonprofit horseback riding program for children with cancer and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. If his perfect season continues through Sunday, he plans to donate much of the prize money to charities supporting cancer and Alzheimer's research.
Mirabella is a veteran of the United States Army and holds a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida.
"Dominic nearly missed out on a perfect season early on in the year when he missed the pick deadline in week three," said CJ Karchon, co-founder of FourPlay Football. "Luckily, he was able to use the 'Late Picker Powerup' to get his picks in and keep the season alive."
The FourPlay Football game is an alternative to fantasy football, based on users' ability to pick four winning teams each week, allowing players to compete with friends while still cheering for their favorite teams. Powerups, like the 'Late Picker,' help players develop their weekly strategies and fix errors in selections before games begin.
The FourPlay Football game began more than 25 years ago as a way for friends to play a fantasy-style game without the time commitment of traditional fantasy football and the risk of losing an entire season based on a single injury. FourPlay Football picks can be made in a few minutes each week and offers a new way to compete in a pick-em style game with a twist.
In FourPlay Football leagues, about half of the players win and half lose each week. Each player picks four teams to win, based on the app's spreads, and is allowed a 14-point teaser. If all four picks are correct, they collect a set amount of "Juice" from each player who did not make four correct picks that week.
Contestants interested in playing next season can reserve a future league by signing up at www.fourplayfootball.com. Spots will be limited.
