Micrel Board Increases Amount Authorized Under Share Repurchase Plan

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Micrel, Incorporated (Nasdaq: MCRL), an industry leader in high performance analog and high-speed mixed signal solutions announced today that its Board of Directors has approved an increase to the amount authorized for the repurchase of the Company's common stock.  The new authorization increases the Company's stock repurchase authorization for calendar year 2010 to $30.0 million, from the previously authorized amount of $15.0 million. 

The repurchases may occur from time to time in the open market or in privately negotiated transactions; provided that the repurchases are made in accordance with the terms of Rule 10b-18 under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, and are completed no later than December 31, 2010.  The timing and amount of any repurchase of shares will be determined by the Company's management, based on its evaluation of market conditions and other factors.

As of September 14, 2010, the Company has expended approximately $11.4 million for the repurchase of its common stock during calendar year 2010.
