Adapted from the Tales of Midlandia storybook of the same name, Builda the Re-Bicycler tells the story of the Midlandians, who are bicycle crazy but get rid of them too often. When the Midlandia dump begins to overflow, Builda the factory owner springs to action with a plan to reduce, reuse, and recycle in hopes of cleaning up the town.
"We believe that it is very important to tell stories that are fun and engaging but that also have a relevant moral or social lesson for children. The topic of reuse, reduce, and recycle is a perfect topic because it is something that every person can do, regardless of age," said Kellie Hamilton, Midlandia Press managing editor. "We feel that we have created a wonderfully enticing story that children will enjoy in a print and an electronic format for years to come."
"It was important to me to tell a story that both entertained and promoted a sense of social responsibility," added author Michael Scotto. "Builda is an eco-conscious story told in a way that engages young readers and encourages them to think differently about the world around them. The interactivity of the app enables users to get a better understanding of the key themes of the story."
With custom music, audio, and special effects, Builda the Re-Bicycler for the iPad gives young readers an entertaining and educational experience they will want to relive again and again. To help develop early reading skills, each word of the story is highlighted as it is read. The app features vibrant illustrations, thoughtful storytelling, and various forms of interactivity that will appeal to readers of all ages while encouraging social consciousness.
Builda the Re-Bicycler for the iPad features include:
- Three reading modes: Read-to-me; Read-to-myself; and Auto-play
- Detailed, colorful artwork
- All-original musical compositions
- Animation and interactive touch elements
- End-of-story discussion questions to encourage reader reflection
