Military Child Education Coalition Hosts National Training Seminar
HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas, June 8, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Military Child Education Coalition will host the 14th National Training Seminar June 27-28 at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas, for individuals concerned with the well-being of military children. Leaders from the private and public sector will convene to learn more about military families and specific needs unique to a military lifestyle. Defense and senior military service leaders, Department of Education representatives, and nationally recognized speakers will focus on Education Innovation, Family, Leadership, Special Needs, and Well Being as those topics relate to the 2 million military children in our country.
Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta will join General Martin E. Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Football Hall of Famer and Navy Veteran Roger Staubach, Robert L. Gordon III, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy, Eric Waldo, Deputy Chief of Staff for the Department of Education, and Stefanie Sanford of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation at the event, which is expected to draw nearly 1,000 attendees. The training event will host an Expo with 50 industry-related exhibitors showcasing innovative products and demonstrations geared toward academic success.
NPR's nationally broadcast program, From the Top with host Christopher O'Riley, will tape live performances by 4 top tier military-connected student musicians who will perform alongside a Quintet from the United States Army Band "Pershing's Own."
