Milliman announces $750,000 gift to The Actuarial Foundation's Math Motivators program

SEATTLE, Feb. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Milliman, Inc., a premier global consulting and actuarial firm, today announced that Milliman has enhanced its commitment to The Actuarial Foundation's Math Motivators tutoring program with a three-year, $750,000 gift. The donation was made possible by the Milliman Giving Fund and was raised entirely through donations from employees and alumni.

"Milliman employees have been central to the Math Motivators effort as volunteer tutors," said Milliman Chief Executive Officer Steve White. "With this donation we are now proudly the lead financial sponsor, enabling the program to expand to new locations. What makes this even more impressive is that the gift is a result of the generosity of our employees and alumni."

The Math Motivator program aims to help close the achievement gap with a volunteer-driven math tutoring program that pairs high school students in selected urban schools with actuaries and college-level math and actuarial students. The program currently runs in Chicago, Hartford, New York, Lincoln/Omaha, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Portland, Maine, and Seattle, with more cities coming online soon.
