Minnesota Chiropractors Honor Nation's Veterans
EDINA, Minn., Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Minnesota chiropractors join other doctors of chiropractic all across the U.S. in honoring the nation's veterans.
According to the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), "members of the military routinely wear gear weighing up to 80 pounds." Recent Veterans Affairs (VA) data (Analysis of VA Health Care Utilization among Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) Veterans, February 2010) cite "diseases of musculoskeletal system/connective system," such as back pain, as the number one ailment of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans accessing VA treatment.
Despite this important data demonstrating a critical need for chiropractic services within the VA, the disparity in access to chiropractic care continues to exist. "The Minnesota Chiropractic Association (MCA) is committed to working toward increasing access to chiropractic care for those who dedicate their lives to protect this nation," stated Dr. Jennifer Naas, MCA president.
Retired U.S. Army Brigadier General, Becky Halstead, explained that "the hands on, active care of doctors of chiropractic and their advice on a healthy lifestyle are essential to the men and women of our military."
