Miss Austin 2013 Organizes Texas Capitol Drive for Dress for Success
Clothing drive collects more than 250 pounds of professional clothing to local women's charity
AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Miss Austin 2013 (U.S. Pageant), Brigette Dechant, coordinated a clothing drive where Texas Capitol staff members donated more than 250 pounds of gently used clothes to the women's charity Dress for Success.
The mission of Dress for Success is to "promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support, and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life."
"Dress for Success is a great organization with a valuable mission in Texas," said Brigette Dechant. "The Texas Capitol community really rallied around this worthy cause. This is a problem that women face not just in Austin, but the whole state of Texas. Not only were we able to donate clothes to this charity, but we raised awareness that will benefit women in the future."
The clothing will be dropped off at the Dress for Success Austin location this Saturday, Dec. 14.
About Brigette Dechant
Brigette Dechant was named Miss Austin in 2013 for the United States Pageant. She currently serves as an assistant lobbyist/legislative analyst at the Texas Star Alliance in Austin, Texas. Ms. Dechant is required to work on issues ranging from healthcare to foster care and juvenile justice. She is an active volunteer for Dress for Success, an international organization that provides transformational tools for disadvantaged women striving to accomplish self-sufficiency. A graduate of Texas State University, she made the Dean's List and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha.
