Mission Kids Expands Child Advocacy Services through Grant and Technology Donation from PECO
Technology Investments Broaden Local Child Advocacy Center's Capacity to Raise Awareness and Serve Victims of Child Abuse
EAST NORRITON, Pa., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Mission Kids Child Advocacy Center, a nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center in Montgomery County, has received a $15,000 grant from PECO to purchase computers, tablets and cloud-based software, which are crucial to the center's mission to ease the criminal justice process for abused children. PECO also donated 10 laptop computers to the center.
"We want to express enormous gratitude to PECO for this wonderful donation to Mission Kids," said Abbie Newman, executive director of Mission Kids. "PECO has shown steadfast support for Mission Kids since our inception, and we very much attribute our success to the tremendous support we receive from community partners. We are so thankful to each and every individual who helps us in the fight against child abuse. There is still much more work to be done and we look forward to one day when our community is free of child abuse."
The recent technology investments have improved both the efficiency and capacity of Mission Kids. The new laptops replaced older PCs that made simple business tasks difficult, and new tablets keep children entertained in the waiting room. These advancements expand Mission Kids' scope of work and ability to serve the most vulnerable victims of abuse in Montgomery County.
Mission Kids offers a comprehensive, centrally located, multidisciplinary team response to allegations of child abuse in a dedicated, child-friendly setting to achieve justice for child victims and promote their physical and emotional well-being. Mission Kids has conducted more than 1,700 neutral, fact-finding forensic interviews, which have been coordinated to avoid duplicative interviewing, and support Montgomery County's multidisciplinary team approach to child abuse investigation and intervention.
