MLV Expands Energy Investment Banking and Principal Investment Team

Ron Ormand, Experienced Energy Executive and Investment Banker, Joins Houston Office

NEW YORK, Nov. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MLV & Co. announced today that Ron Ormand, Co-Founder and former Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Head of Capital Markets of Magnum Hunter Resources Corporation (NYSE: MHR), has joined the firm's Energy Investment Banking Group as a Managing Director. In addition, Mr. Ormand will also be a Principal in 1055 Partners, MLV's principal investment arm, where he will identify and assess merchant banking opportunities in the energy sector. Mr. Ormand will work out of the Houston office and focus his efforts on expanding the firm's investment banking and principal investment platforms in oil and gas and other energy related industries. Working closely with Seth Appel and our existing Energy Team based in New York, Houston and New Orleans, Ron will assist in expanding MLV's platform in the energy sector.

Mr. Ormand has over 31 years of experience as a senior executive and investment banker in the energy sector, including most recently at MHR, where he was Co-Founder, Board Member, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Head of Capital Markets for the past 4 1/2 years. Prior to MHR, Mr. Ormand was Managing Director and Group Head of U.S. Oil and Gas Investment Banking at CIBC World Markets and Oppenheimer from 1988-2004 and at West LB A.G. from 2005-2007. Mr. Ormand also previously served as President and Chief Financial Officer of Tremisis Energy Acquisition Corp. II, an investment company focused on the energy sector.

Mr. Ormand also served as member of Board of Directors of Greenhunter Resources, Inc. from 2011-2013; Tremisis from 2007-2009 and Eureka Hunter Holdings, Inc., a private midstream company from 2010-2013. Mr. Ormand holds B.A. in Economics and MBA in Finance and Accounting both from UCLA. He also studied Economics at Cambridge University England.
