More Than 140,000 Minnesota Residents Lost Their Healthcare Thanks to U.S. Senator Al Franken
Rescue the Senate PAC launches campaign against Sen. Franken today
MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Rescue the Senate PAC today launched an online ad knocking U.S. Senator Al Franken (D-MN) for causing 140,000 Minnesotans to lose their healthcare plans due to Obamacare. The ad is a parody of Franken as his Saturday Night Live character Stuart Smalley, a self-help guru who refuses to beat himself up for his mistakes.
In the ad titled, "Not Funny Franken," the Franken character concedes that casting the deciding vote for Obamacare was not his best moment, but he refuses to beat himself for lying when he said, "People who are happy with their current plan wouldn't need to change it." According to the St. Paul Pioneer Press, 140,000 Minnesota residents lost their plans.
Rescue the Senate PAC's spokesperson, Mark Meckler, said the ad was created to educate voters about Sen. Franken's position on Obamacare and its devastating impact on Minnesota families.
"Other than voting to give control of our healthcare system to the federal government, Senator Franken has been a minor player in Washington D.C. and has kept a very low profile back home. It's time for him to come out of hiding and apologize to voters for lying and forcing them to lose their healthcare plans. Senator Franken may think he's funny, but Minnesotans don't."
