MORLEY, Mich., Nov. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Morley Stanwood Community Schools is proud to announce our latest effort to keep students and staff healthy throughout the school year. The investment in the Clorox® Total 360® System will add an additional layer of protection to create an even healthier environment for all school visitors, students and employees, helping to eliminate harmful bacteria, germs and viruses that can keep students and staff out of school for days.
We are proud of our history as an outbreak-free school. Yet we know that as viruses become more prevalent or easily contracted throughout the year and seasons, we must always think and work ahead to prevent outbreaks from happening rather than reacting when they do.
From absenteeism to school closures, illnesses and infections can have a serious impact on schools and their communities. School districts are often the hardest hit by illnesses and outbreaks, with an estimated 60 million school days lost each year due to cold and flu alone.[i] With flu cases peaking between December and March[ii] and the highly contagious norovirus typically spiking between November and April[iii], schools need to be confident that their cleaning products and protocols are up to the job.
The viruses and bacteria that often cause outbreaks, like the fast-spreading norovirus, cold and flu and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), can survive on surfaces from days to months. Norovirus particles can persist on environmental surfaces, like desks and cafeteria tables, for days and it only takes as few as 1-10 particles to infect a person[iv], which is why Morley Stanwood makes daily cleaning and disinfecting surfaces an imperative step in protecting students and staff.
Absenteeism due to illness can severely impact students' academic success. Knowing this, Morley Stanwood purchased the Clorox® Total 360® System to incorporate into our current cleaning and disinfecting regimens across both buildings, including all classrooms, locker rooms, pre-school rooms, and bathrooms.
"We purchased the system proactively, knowing we wanted technology and solutions that would help elevate our existing protocols," said Roger Cole, Superintendent of Morley Stanwood Community Schools. "The Clorox® Total 360® System allows us to disinfect more surfaces with less time, yet with more confidence. We are implementing it on a regular basis, as well as in acute illness situations to help us rapidly respond to and prevent germ spread."
The Clorox® Total 360® System provides the coverage school districts need by combining patented electrostatic technology with scientifically-tested disinfecting and sanitizing solutions they can trust, enabling Morley Stanwood to carry out quick and comprehensive cleanings with superior surface coverage. The system works by charging and atomizing the Clorox® disinfecting or sanitizing solution and delivering a powerful flow of the charged particles that are attracted to surfaces with a force stronger than gravity, this allows the solution to easily reach and uniformly coat surfaces, including germ hotspots like the sides, underside, and backside of surfaces, where trigger spray methods might easily miss.
Morley Stanwood uses the Clorox® Total 360® System to treat a wide range of frequently shared spaces across our facilities and classroom buildings within the district, including Morley Stanwood High School, Morley Stanwood Elementary School and the Stanwood Learning Center.
