LONDON, April 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
- A first of its kind, medical option for cancer patients unable to receive existing treatments, with an emphasis on quality of life
- Open to palliative care patients across the world, this new clinic has just opened on London's Harley Street
Care Oncology Clinic (COC), an independent, private organization providing oncology treatments, announces an investment from Morood Invest into the London based clinic.
Delivered by leading oncologists and palliative care doctors, the Care Oncology Clinic is the first of its kind, specifically set up to offer specialized cancer treatment to patients for whom the standard oncology treatment regime is not available, viable, tolerable or providing benefit. The treatment is designed to target the energy requirements of cancer cells using existing medicines that are already licensed for this purpose, have an acceptable safety profile and are low cost. Designed to improve the quality of life of palliative care patients with limited options, this new approach to cancer is available for all, regardless of the stage or type of cancer.
Mohammed Al Nemer, Founder and CEO of Morood Invest LLC said:
"Our investment into Care Oncology Clinic provides unprecedented opportunities to develop and bring innovative cancer treatments to patients across the world. This is the first clinic in the world to offer such treatment in a simple, organized and easily accessible manner and is backed by a team of highly talented individuals."
"We invest in businesses with visionary management and credible and realistic strategies, and feel that COC combines all of those qualities by offering a new dimension to the idea of 'care' in cancer."
Christina Doherty, CEO of Care Oncology Clinic added:
"There are currently 14 million people a year diagnosed with cancer globally; this is set to rise to 24 million per year by 2035. A number of cancer patients are unable to tolerate existing treatments, and are left with limited, or in some cases, no options. Our objective is to provide affordable treatment to help patients have an acceptable quality of life while dealing with the disease."
Morood Invest has also been an investor in COC's parent company SEEK since 2013. SEEK is a privately-owned UK drug discovery group whose strategy is to bring safe, effective and low cost medicines to patients as quickly as possible.
