Mortgage Statistics Chronicle Industry's Highs, Lows
DALLAS, April 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Mortgage Statistics tables at Mortgage Daily provide valuable data about home loan originations and residential loan performance. Metrics cover the highs reached during the run-up to the crisis and the lows that followed.
Prominent among the data is a mortgage lender ranking supplemented by quarterly origination data by lender back to 2003. Mortgage Daily obtained the numbers from its Mortgage Originator Survey, quarterly earnings reports and other sources. The funding tables include data on the Top-10 lenders and many of the 50 biggest.
Weekly activity for prospective borrowers is reflected in the Mortgage Market Index from LoanSifter and Mortgage Daily. The index includes overall volume, refinance activity and jumbo metrics. Also reported the share by government loans, jumbo mortgages and ARM usage.
Complimenting the quarterly and weekly production data are origination statistics tables. These were collected from a variety of sources including government entities, industry economists and private service providers. Many have data from 2000 forward and some go back to 1990.
A by-product of Mortgage Daily's quarterly work on originations are Mortgage Servicing Portfolio tables. These tables show servicing portfolios by lender for each year since 2006.
Another valuable resource is the mortgage delinquency statistics table. It includes loan performance data by entity type, degree of delinquency and loan type.
The Mortgage Employment Index identifies mass layoffs within real estate finance back to 2007.
Mortgage employment statistics include government data by year for mortgage-sector jobs back to 2002.
Mortgage Company Profiles include employment, origination and servicing data for the biggest mortgage bankers.
Another proprietary report is the Mortgage Fraud Index, which track prosecutions in cases where defendants are accused of deceiving a lender. This is complimented by mortgage fraud statistics from government and private sources.
Case activity on important legal actions are reflected in the Mortgage Litigation Index.
The Mortgage Graveyard tracks mortgage-related firms that were closed, failed or acquired.
A wealth of other available mortgage statistics include mortgage fraud statistics, NMLS registrations and MBS issuance.
