Motivational Speaker and Cancer Survivor Matt Jones Completes Seventh Marathon on Seventh Continent
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Keynote inspirational speaker, three-time cancer conqueror Matt Jones, survivor of a bone marrow transplant, who had to relearn how to walk, completes his sixth and seventh marathon on his sixth and seventh continent in one week. Matt completed the White Continent Marathon in Antarctica on January 26, 2016. Three days later he completed his seventh marathon on his seventh continent in Punta Arenas, Chile.

On September 11, 2002, at the age of twenty-three, Matt Jones heard three words you never want to hear. "You have cancer." He would be diagnosed with leukemia. Seven months after going into remission the leukemia came back. At this time his doctor told him that he would need a bone marrow transplant. Matt went back into remission a second time but while waiting for a bone marrow donor he would relapse. This time the cancer spread to the cerebral spinal fluid in his brain.
On Valentine's Day 2004, Matt would slip into an unconscious state and doctors did not think he would live. Against all odds he recovered, had to relearn how to walk, and went through a bone marrow transplant.
"You need to develop a marathon mentality to deal with the realities of fighting cancer and running a marathon," said Jones. "When I had to relearn how to walk, my dad told me, 'Son you can do it, one step at a time.' That's when I realized you need to become a 'Solutionist,' someone who is solution oriented and not problem focused when dealing with adversity."
