PARIS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time, MTV is organising a Listening Session at MIDEM. The internationally renowned music channel is offering participants of MIDEM 2010 the opportunity to place their music in an episode of "The Hills," the TV-reality show followed by some 2.1 million viewers every week in the USA.

The MIDEM Listening Sessions bring together music supervisors looking for music for a wide range of projects including advertising, TV series, films, trailers and video games.

MTV will be joining the four other organisers of the Listening Sessions - Grey, ad agency for the Pantene hair care brand; Activision/Blizzard, games publisher of DJ Hero® and Guitar Hero®; and the two American synchronisation agencies, Zync Music and RipTide Music. The Listening Sessions will take place in Cannes from 25-27 January, during MIDEM.

Characterised by the diversity of potential outlets, the Listening Sessions will provide an occasion to reach two of the most influential music supervisors of the moment. During Zync Music's Listening Session, Gary Calamar, music supervisor of series such as "Six Feet Under," "True Blood," "Dexter," and "House," will present the music which drew his attention among the tracks submitted. Another leading figure in the field, Angel Mendoza, who has worked on numerous movie trailers ("X-Men," "No Country for Old Men," and "Inglourious Basterds"), will participate in the Listening Session organised by RipTide Music.

The MIDEM Listening Sessions offer selected candidates the possibility to see their music chosen for specific projects such as the 2010 advertising campaign for the shampoo brand Pantene or the upcoming DJ Hero®. Previous Listening Sessions have allowed several artists to become known. The singer Rosi Golan saw her single "Shine" downloaded 63,000 times after being chosen to accompany Pantene's 2008 ad campaign in 30 countries. The Welsh group The Answer, chosen two years ago by Activision/Blizzard during the Listening Session for Guitar Hero®, were subsequently opening act for AC/DC on their world tour.
