Multimedia educational tool The Great Planet Earth Debate syncs audio and video to expand learning, launches crowdfunding campaign
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Multimedia is revolutionizing the way we teach and learn. Educational program The Great Planet Earth Debate (TGPED) has successfully joined that revolution and is looking for new recruits to help bring this amazing tool to as many students as possible through a crowdfunding campaign on Antrocket.com.
TGPED awakens the interest of students by telling them the stories behind famous scientists, inventions, and technologies. Through a combination of fast-paced visuals and live original music, TGPED bridges traditional education and modern technology to create vibrant educational experiences. The brain child of Puerto Rican musician Ignacio Pena, it has been called "an innovative class in a concert format" by educators who have witnessed its powerful effect of their students http://youtu.be/4OXC0OQd0lU.
"Traditional educational approaches have resulted in a mismatch between what is taught and what industries need, which is why so many institutions use multimedia technology in their teaching and learning strategies," said Pena. "The Great Planet Earth Debate uses this proven approach to tell powerful stories through the synchronization of audio and video, with original music edited against visuals that accelerate the viewer's perception of time and space. This acceleration makes young viewers resonate and open up emotionally, helping them connect with the subject matter by tuning into the secret power of art," he added.
According to research gathered by TGPED team, the use of multimedia in industries has been extensive, as it has been effective in increasing productivity and retention rates, where people remember 20% of what they see, 40% of what they see and hear, but about 75% of what they see and hear and do simultaneously. Multimedia has also been shown to elicit the highest rate of information retention and result in shorter learning time.
TGPED has teamed up with crowdfunding platform Antrocket.com to raise the money needed to take the project, which has been presented to live audiences with overwhelmingly positive feedback, to the next level. With the money raised, a cinematographic version of the show will be produced and distributed to reach classrooms, homes, and groups interested in expanding the horizons of understanding and human interaction to solve life's complex problems.
