Multimedia University Students Come Out Tops at The Frost & Sullivan Public Sector Case Challenge Malaysia 2013
Chong Ker Pi, Tan She Quan, and Tan Chuan You take home top prize of RM3000 and internship opportunities from Frost & Sullivan
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, April 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Frost & Sullivan, together with its Strategic Partners Agensi Inovasi Malaysia (AIM) and Mahindra Satyam, recognized and celebrated innovative young leaders at the inaugural Frost & Sullivan Public Sector Case Challenge Malaysia 2013 on 10 April 2013 at the Mahindra Satyam Malaysia Global Solution Center in Cyberjaya.
The objective of the challenge was to discover and nurture the next generation of leaders in developing and presenting ideas on how a government can foster innovation to promote economic growth and development.
Out of numerous registrants, 5 teams were selected for the finals and mentored by Frost & Sullivan consultants; Team Impulse from Multimedia University (MMU), The Absolute Thinkers from University Malaya, The Possibiliser from Sunway University, and 2 teams from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Group 4 and RDF.
The groups then presented their case to an esteemed panel of judges which comprised of Mark Rozario, CEO of AIM; Dato' Hafsah Hashim, CEO of SME Corp; Sudhir Dhar, A. Vice President of Mahindra Satyam; Michael Warren, Vice President & Director of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and Kavan Mukhtyar, Partner, Frost & Sullivan.
The teams were judged based on their logical reasoning & flow, innovativeness of the proposed solution, actionability of the proposed solution, and completeness of the submission. After careful deliberation, Chong Ker Pi, Tan She Quan, and Tan Chuan You of Team Impulse from MMU, Melaka emerged victorious, receiving a cash prize of RM3000, sponsored by AIM. Sharifah Najah Aqilah Syed Mohd Amudin, Nor Liyana Mohd Anuar, and Julianna Roslan of Group 4 from IIUM took home the second prize of RM1000.
All finalists were offered internship opportunities at Frost & Sullivan while 3 outstanding presenters (Yeoh Yun Wei of The Possibiliser from Sunway University, Nor Liyana Mohd Anuar of Group 4 from IIUM and Chong Ker Pi of Impulse from MMU) were also offered job placements at Frost & Sullivan's Global Innovation Center in Iskandar which serves Frost & Sullivan's global operations and offices, providing opportunities for local employees to work on global projects.

AIM also extended Genovasi scholarships to selected individuals amongst the participants totaling RM22,500 per student. Modeled after the HPI School of Design Thinking in Potsdam, Germany and Stamford University's Design School, Genovasi aims to develop future innovators through their Innovation Ambassador Programme.
