STOCKHOLM, April 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The world's most advanced hunting simulation is about to get even better. This summer, multiplayer gaming comes to theHunter, turning an already unique game into a one of a kind experience.
Starting April 8, registered hunters can sign up for the alpha test. Multiplayer has been the most requested feature for years, and space is limited, so a select number of lucky players will be handpicked. Each game will feature up to 8 players, and the first iteration is strictly co-op - just like real life. In future updates, competitive play will also be supported.
Expansive Worlds is not forgetting about the lone hunter. There are currently six reserves and 14 species to hunt, including a serene winter landscape introduced this March. With over 1,3 million players from 200+ countries, the singleplayer version of theHunter is becoming a full blown phenomenon. But with the introduction of multiplayer, competition is literally none - there are no other multiplayer hunting simulations.
"theHunter is the most realistic simulation of hunting in the world," said Expansive Worlds CEO Pim Holfve. "Since real-life hunting is a social experience, so should our virtual counterpart be. Hunting with friends adds a greater depth than we could have imagined. We will of course keep the single player experience, but once you've tried multiplayer hunting, it's hard to go back."
"It's with great pleasure that I follow the evolution of Expansive Worlds," commented Christofer Sundberg, Co-Founder and CCO of Avalanche Studios. "As we set up the studio in 2010 after running theHunter internally for a year, we saw great potential - a potential that is now becoming fully realized. The shifts in the videogame industry are often hard to predict, and Expansive Worlds provides our company group with strength through diversity. As one of few independent developers, we are now covering Free-to-Play, AAA console games and mobile entertainment. Looking to the future, I could not be more pleased with our position."
